When considering a new glass shower door for your bathroom, one of the first things you need to decide on is style or type.

Frameless glass shower enclosures are the high-end choice for your tub or shower. Perhaps an obvious benefit to frameless enclosures is the style they add to any bathroom. While supporting a minimalist design theme, a frameless glass unit is versatile enough to fit in with a range of styles and ideas.

Most frameless models are custom-made, so you aren’t limited to a mass-produced standard size adding more flexibility to your shower installation. Customization is an essential factor in purchasing a frameless shower door. Sleek, trendy, and modern, don’t miss out on this design!

Frameless shower enclosures typically use heavy 3/8″ or 1/2″ glass. The heavier weight and sturdiness of the glass provides the support necessary, eliminating the need for heavy metal framing around it. Instead, the structure is held together by metal fasteners and hinges. When necessary, however, frameless units can have a metal header support, which is why the terminology can be confusing.

Even with a metal header, these systems are still “frameless” because there is no metal between the panels or doors. Stationary panels get support from clips or u-channel along the base and sides of the glass.

A frameless glass enclosure is an excellent option for displaying beautiful tile work and provides an open and airy feel.
